Panthers try to solve red zone mistakes

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- The 13th ranked UNI football team passed it's first test posting a 16-9 win over visiting North Dakota State on Saturday.

Transfer quarterback Tirell Rennie completed 10-20 passes for 172 yards, while running for an additional 96 in his Panther debut.

Not everything, however, went right in the ball game.  The Panthers drove inside the Bison 20 yard line 5 times in the first half.  Those 5 trips yielded 3 field goals and zero touchdowns, and head coach Mark Farley says that type of production has to change.

"We fumbled the ball 2 times inside the 5 yard line.  That can't happen," says Farley, "We need to score touchdowns down there, and that's just having the confidence in the offensive line, and also the discipline to secure the football down there."

The Panthers host 10th ranked Stephen F. Austin Saturday at 4:00 PM in the UNI-Dome.
