A-P sends St. Ansgar packing


PARKERSBURG (KWWL) -- In class 1-A, District 3, 5th ranked Aplington-Parkersburg is one of five teams to win both non-district games. St. Ansgar's only loss came to the second ranked team in the state in Class A, Mason City Newman.

The Falcons came into Friday's game with an astounding school record of 164 wins and only 35 losses.

It would take the Falcons until the second quarter to get things going on offense. Jason Grill would take the hand-off from quarterback Austin Ryan, as he dove for the end zone. The Saints would block the extra point, but the Falcons go up by six.

A little later in the second quarter the Falcons sticking with their ground attack and eating up the clock. Austin Ryan would keep the ball, grabs some grass and pushes himself ten more yards down field.

That run set up another seven yard touchdown run by Grill. The Falcons would go for the two point conversion and get it. A-P went into halftime up 14 to nothing.

The Falcons would continue to pile it on the Saints in the second half.

A-P beat Saint Ansgar 28-7.
