Waterloo West beats Dubuque Senior in last minute FG block


DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- Two more teams looking for their first win of the season, Waterloo West and Dubuque Senior collided on Friday night at Dalzell.

It's always a good match up since both teams have similar talent and playing styles and both teams looking for their first win.

Senior going just 1-8 in every year for the last four years. Waterloo West gets on the board first as Quarterback Austin McMahon keeps it himself. That's a ten yard touchdown, 7-0 West.

Then in the second quarter Senior lights up the board as Robby Jones hooks up with Wes Bowers. It's a tied game. In the second half, Senior with the early possession. From the 29 yard line Jones keeps it himself, dives for the end zone and is out at the one yard line.

A few plays later and this time Jones hands things off to Vito Freese. He plows into the end zone. Senior takes the lead for the first time all season.

West came back in the fourth to ties things up. They pulled through with the 21-20 win after blocking a field goal in the final minute of the game.
