WAUCOMA (KWWL) -- About 40 girls spent a day on the Schmitt Farm near Waucoma. The Farm Fun Day was organized by members of Girl Scout Troop 702.
Seven girls in fourth and fifth grade spent about a year organizing the event to get their Bronze Award. It's the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn.
"They're passionate about farming, and they've all chosen animals to do a presentation on and then they've done an arts and craft project, a science or a game," Troop Leader Sara Schmitt said.
Each of the Junior Girl Scouts put together a presentation on an animal. Then the other girls participated in activities designed around that animal.
"I am doing horses and sheep and I made a poster for horses," Hanna Schmitt said.
The girls also got to enjoy a petting zoo and sang some farm-themed songs. The goal is to expose the girls to farm life, all while having fun.
"I want to make the girls have a good impression of farms," Hanna Schmitt said.
