Zoo tiger picks ISU to win weekend game

DES MOINES (KWWL)--  Blank Park Zoo's male tiger has picked the Iowa State Cyclones to win the in-state rivalry at Kinnick Saturday.

This morning, zoo keepers placed two signs in the window of Kavacha's exhibit. The first one he paid attention to was his choice.  Kavacha licked and scratched his head on the Iowa State sign.

Officials at the zoo say Kavacha is a huge sports fanatic, and is often seen playing with a boomer ball in his exhibit. One zoo employee claims Kavacha picked the Cyclones only to impress his keepers, who happen to be graduates of Iowa State.

Last year, Dylon the sea lion incorrectly picked Iowa State to win, but lions Gavivi and Falala correctly picked New Orleans to win the Super Bowl.

Kavacha is an Amur Tiger, also known as a Siberian Tiger. You can see him everyday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines.
