Loras College sees increased enrollment

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- The newest class at Loras College is being credited for helping increase the school's overall enrollment.

The newest class at Loras includes 416 first year and 60 transfer students, totaling an incoming class of 476. That's 23 more students than last year's incoming class. 

The total enrollment for the 2010-2011 is 1,580.  That's up 15 students from last year's 1,565 total students.

Loras' student population is 51 percent female and 49 percent male.

The 2010 incoming class brings 32 percent of the students from Iowa and 54 percent from Illinois.  The remaining students in the first year class represent 27 states and 15 countries, including seven percent from Wisconsin and seven percent from Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas combined.

Seventeen incoming multicultural and international students make up approximately three percent of the students, representing Columbia, Ecuador, Kenya, Macedonia, Nepal, Peru, South Korea and Spain. They join 41 more international students representing a total of 15 countries.
