Dike-New Hartford High School evacuated due to gas leak

Posted:

DIKE (KWWL) -- School administrators were forced to evacuate the Dike-New Hartford High School building following a gas leak Tuesday afternoon.

The Superintendent's Office confirms gas was detected in a science classroom just before 2:00 p.m., prompting an evacuation of the building.  The energy company quickly worked to contain the leak.

At 3:45 p.m., KWWL was informed the high school had been declared safe.  Afternoon activities will continue as normal, and students will be able to attend regular class Wednesday.

Students attending the Dike-New Hartford Elementary School continued in class as normal.
