George Wyth packed for Labor Day

WATERLOO (KWWL)--Another Eastern Iowa campground is recovering after dealing with frequent flooding.

George Wyth State Park was washed out from the floods of 2008 and closed again for a few weeks this summer.

Despite the set backs, people there say the area has recovered

The park manager says the campground is packed this weekend and people are enjoying the area.

She credits those people for the quick recovery.

"We've had different people do different events and have donated money for different projects in the park and its just really nice to have that support from the community and it really goes to show how much George Wyth really means to the area," said Lori Eberhard, park manager.

The swimming beach at the park is still closed from the floods of 2008. But Eberhard says they have received some new resources that will help with repairs. She hopes to re-open the area sometime next summer.
