Wapsie Valley edges Denver 21-20

DENVER (KWWL) -- Wapsie Valley and Denver renew their neighborhood rivalry.

The Warriors in their road white get it rolling early. Connor O'Brien breaks loose for a big 40 yard run to the Denver 11 yard line.

Wapsie Valley's Mike Bentley finishes the drive for a 6-0 Warrior lead.

In the third quarter Denver leads 8-6. And it's that dangerous Connor O'Brien breaking loose for Wapsie. This time he goes all the way, 54 yards for the go ahead touchdown. And it's 13-8 Warriors.

The Denver defense comes up big. The Cyclones Isaiah Minikus recovers for the Denver touchdown and a 14-13 Cyclone lead.

Wapsie Valley comes back, once again it's O'Brien scoring from 2 yards out. The two point conversion gives Wapsie Valley a 21-13 lead.

But back comes Denver. Austin Ritter runs to daylight for a 51 yard gain down to the four yard line. A couple of plays later Chase Shendenhelm scores to make it 21-20 Wapsie Valley.

Denver does not convert the two point attempt and Wapsie Valley hangs on to win 21-20.
