Shell Rock River Reservoir to be lowered for dam repairs

Posted:

GREENE (KWWL) -- The Butler County Conservation Board has announced that they will be lowering the Shell Rock River Reservoir above the Greene Milldam starting on Sept. 8, in order to complete repairs.

The milldam was damaged during the floods of 2008.

The reservoir will be lowered 18 to 24 inches and will be maintained at that level for several months.

Boat owners on the Shell Rock River from Greene to Marble Rock are asked to remove their watercraft by Sept. 7, to keep them from being stranded on mud flats or in low water levels.

Also, beginning September 8th and until further notice, public access to the area immediately below the spillway of the dam will be prohibited. No fishing or other recreational use of the area near the dam will be permitted until dam repairs are completed.
