A new Habitat for Humanity project begins in Waterloo

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- In the last 20 years, Habitat for Humanity has dedicated 88 homes in Black Hawk, Bremer and Butler Counties. On Monday, the work began on home #89.

Volunteers from the Supply Management department at John Deere started framing walls, hanging siding and putting in doors and windows in the home on Bauch Street in Waterloo.

Ten different volunteers from John Deere will work at the site each day this week.

"John Deere has been really good and supportive. We're just hoping we have a successful week and no rain and we should get a lot accomplished I think," Troy Blakestad with Habitat for Humanity said.

Volunteers from John Deere will also help on another home on Leavitt Street in a couple weeks.
