Two UI students hit by car

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Iowa City Police say two University of Iowa students are still in the hospital after being hit by a car late Friday night.

According to police, Brittany Lambert, 19, and Christopher Hunter, 19, were crossing Governor Street at College Street at around 11:55 pm when they were hit by a car that was traveling northbound on Governor.

Police need to interview Lambert and Hunter before they can conclude their investigation, but say that the driver of the car was not intoxicated at the time of the accident and that speed was not a factor.

Sergeant Denise Brotherton says that both Hunter and Lambert are still in the hospital.

While there is a stop sign for vehicles on College Street, there are no traffic control devices on Governor Street for vehicles.
