Cedar Rapids Police find wanted man in bar

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Through some good old fashioned police work, Cedar Rapids officers took a wanted man into custody, but not before he gave them a run for their money.

Officers in an unmarked car spotted Michael Mease, 30, sitting in a car in the 2000 block of Johnson Avenue last Friday afternoon.

Mease was wanted on several arrest warrants out of Cedar Rapids as well as a federal warrant for Possession of a Firearm as a Felon.

While waiting for a marked police car to initiate the stop, the car, driven by Patrice Brisbin, 22, pulled into the Taco John's parking lot at Edgewood Road and Johnson Avenue.

The officer in the unmarked car pulled up next to her vehicle and told her to stop. She put her vehicle into reverse and struck another unmarked vehicle.

Mease then opened the passenger door and took off running.

Officers gave chase and ran through the parking lot, across Johnson Ave and Edgewood Rd NW behind the Flowerama store.

Officers determined that Mease had gone inside the Westside Lounge.

After not finding him in the main area of the bar, officers found Mease in the sit down urinal of the restroom.

After a brief struggle, Mease was arrested and taken to the Linn County Jail on the Federal Warrant of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Warrants for Failure to appear on Possession of Precursors and Driving While Barred.

Brisbin faces four counts of Driving While License Under Suspension, Reckless Driving and No Insurance. She also went to the Linn County Jail.
