NEW DETAILS: Contaminated feed likely caused salmonella in eggs
WRIGHT COUNTY (KWWL) -- Federal investigators have showed that feed given to hens -- used by both Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms -- is the likely source of contamination that led to a nationwide salmonella outbreak, officials said Thursday.
The feed and some feed ingredients are believed to have been contaminated and are the source of the salmonella, officials said. It's possible the contamination happened at a facility that produces feed.
