Two more area schools delay start due to possible mold

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Two more area schools have had to delay the start of classes due to possible mold in the buildings.

Washington Junior High in the Washington Community School District is closed on Monday due to mold found in the building.  All other schools in the district are open.

St. Jude's Elementary in Cedar Rapids is closed Monday and Tuesday because of possible mold in the building. Staff at the school say that the daycare is not impacted. Monday was to be school supply drop-off day and Tuesday was to be the first day of classes.

They are awaiting test results to determine when they can start classes.

These two closures brings the total number of schools impacted by mold to seven for the year.

Last week the Regina Catholic Education Center in Iowa City, West Branch Junior High, Springville Schools, River Hills School in Cedar Falls and Excelsior Middle School in Marion were all impacted by mold problems.
