UPDATE: Tool thief turns himself in

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Police say a Marion man turned himself in after seeing surveillance video of himself on a television newscast.

On Friday morning, police released surveillance video of a man accused of taking a drill from a Cedar Rapids business last month.

Cedar Rapids Police say a man entered the Acme Tool store on Blairsferry Road Northeast during the afternoon hours of July 17, and stole a drill valued at $250. Authorities say employees chased the man and ended up recovering the drill, but not the suspect.

On Friday afternoon, Shane Ehrle turned himself into police where he was charged with theft.

Police say the high quality video system at Acme Tools was a major factor in catching and charging Ehrle.
