Coralville mom charged with child endangerment

CORALVILLE (KWWL) -- A Coralville mom is facing a child endangerment charge after police say her 4-year-old daughter was missing for at least an hour before she was reported missing.

The girl was found in a Burger King parking lot after she ran out in front of the woman's car and was almost hit Tuesday evening.

Police say the girl was fully clothed but not wearing shoes.

Police took custody of the girl and waited for nearly an hour before the girl's mother, Margaret Kathryn Brown, reported her missing.

Police say an internal search of their files found that the mother had been charged with child endangerment a little over a year ago when the same little girl had been found by police under the same circumstances.

Police say the Iowa Department of Human Services will investigate.
