Cedar Valley Trails Festival kicks off

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- This is the 15th Cedar Valley Trails Festival, celebrating the bike trails of the Cedar Valley.

There are than 106 miles of trails in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area.

The festival kicked off Wednesday with a senior cruise. Senior citizens left the Cedar Falls Community Center in vans to check out the trails in the Cedar Valley.

This is the tenth year of the event. Organizers say they started the senior cruise so everyone could be involved with the festival.

"For most of the people who drive by and see a trail on the side of the road don't really realize how they cut through our parks and it really makes a beautiful walk so we hope to get them out and take advantage afterwards," said Rosemary Beach.

There are a variety of activities planned throughout the week including a dog walk, bike safety rodeo and light-the-night event. Click here to see a full list of events on the festival website.
