Two teens charged in Waterloo shooting

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Two teenagers have been charged in the shooting of another Waterloo teenager.

Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a fight in the 300 block of Polk Street.

When they arrived, they found 16 year-old Diedrick Smith with a gunshot wound in his leg. Smith was taken to Allen Hospital where he was treated and released.

Police have charged 16 year-olds Jalen Davontae Hall and Nathanial Whittaker with carrying weapons, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and willful injury. Both are being held at the Black Hawk County Jail.
