Dolphins say Edds to miss entire season

MIAMI, Fla. (KWWL) -- Miami Dolphins Head Coach Tony Sparano confirms that rookie linebacker A.J. Edds will miss the entire season after tearing the ACl in his right knee.

The former Hawkeye was picked by the Dolphins in the fourth round of the April draft.  He was expected to make an immediate impact on defense.

"Obviously, there was a lot of football left out here but A.J. looked like he had some really good promise and had the ability to do some good jobs," Sparano said.

Edds had gotten a lot of reps behind projected starters Channing Crowder and Karlos Dansby during the first four days of training camp.  Now those reps will be taken up by other young players like Austin Spitler, J.D. Folsom and Tim Dobbins.
