Hawkeyes picked second in Big Ten

Posted:

CHICAGO (KWWL) -- The Iowa Hawkeyes have been picked by the media to finish second in the upcoming season.  The pre-season ranking is the highest ever since records were kept dating back to 1996.

The Ohio State Buckeyes were picked to repeat as league champions, while Bret Bielema's Wisconsin Badgers took up the third spot.

"I suppose it's flattering to be picked so high by the league's media," said Head Coach Kirk Ferentz. "But the reality is that we haven't won a single game yet in 2010. We fully realize we have a lot work to do before the season begins."

Iowa's coming off a 2009 campaign that featured 11 wins and an Orange Bowl Championship.
