Controversy surrounds timing of prostate cancer testing

(KWWL) -- Most men diagnosed with low risk prostate cancer get aggressive treatment, according to a new study.

More than 90-percent of prostate cancers are diagnosed early and have an excellent prognosis.

There have been concerns that many men are over treated for their disease, while others argue the threshold for biopsy should be lowered.

This new study found with a lower biopsy threshold, the number of men with abnormal test results would double to about six-million -- putting more men through unnecessary treatment.
