Iowa dam breach causes flooded crop land

MANCHESTER (KWWL)-- Nearly 6,000 acres of crop land may be difficult to harvest after the dam burst at Lake Delhi.

Delaware County District Conservationist Keith Krause says as of Monday 2,000 acres of crop land and 2,000 acres of pasture were flooded along the Maquoketa River.

Preliminary estimates show about 4,000 acres may be flooded in Jones County.

If farmers are able to harvest Krause says it may be challenging because of all the flooded debris in the field such as tin, trees, wood, and docks.
