Columbus rallies from 5 down to roll St. Edmond at State

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Waterloo Columbus rallied from a 5-0 deficit with 16 unanswered runs as they rolled past #7 Fort Dodge St. Edmond in Monday's first round.

The Sailors fell behind 5-0 after the first 2 innings, but immediately rallied in the 3rd scratching out 7 runs on 6 hits for a 7-5 lead.  The Sailors again struck big in the 6th sending 11 batters to the plate while scoring 7 more.

St. Edmond managed one last run in the bottom of the 6th, but at that point it was way too little way to late.

With the victory, Columbus moves on to face #1 Solon in Thursday's semifinals.  The Spartans shut out Interstate 35 4-0 in Monday's second game.
