Cedar Rapids animal ordinance on hold

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL)--- The Cedar Rapids City Council is canceling a public hearing for the animal control ordinance revisions scheduled for its July 27 meeting.  The public hearing will be removed from the agenda due to the limited amount of time for public input.  Animal Care and Control will resubmit the proposed ordinance in September after engaging the public.

The proposed revisions address the regulation of dogs, cats and other animals in Chapter 23 of the Cedar Rapids ordinances.  Copies of the proposed revisions and a summary sheet are available here under the Animal Control department page in the government section.

Citizens who are not able to attend the recent open house on this issue may submit their comments to the city by emailing this address or calling (319) 286-5993.
