Manchester hits flood record

MANCHESTER (KWWL) - Manchester has hit a new flood record.

According to the Delaware County Emergency Manager, Mike Ryan, at 12 p.m. Saturday, the river was at 23.9 inches. The previous record was 21.66 inches set back in 2004. The river is expected to crest Saturday afternoon at 24.2 inches.

Manchester recently just built a new sewer system a foot above the old one. The system will begin to fail if the river rises another six inches.

Manchester city officials are encouraging people living there to conserve water.
