Heat stroke can kill

(KWWL) -- About 8,000 Americans have died from heat exposure since 1979, with the elderly, very young and chronically ill the most at risk, but no one is immune from the effects of the heat.

Doctors recommend scheduling outdoor activities early in the morning or evening, taking regular breaks from strenuous activity, and drinking two to four glasses of fluids each hour.

And most importantly, call 9111 if you suspect you or someone else has heat stroke, a high temperature, rapid pulse, confusion or hot skin that is flushed but not sweaty.
