Record Turnout For Loras Summer Sports Camp

The annual Loras College All-Sports Camp is underway this week in Dubuque, with a record number of participants. The camp wrap us up Friday in Rock Bowl Stadium with the annual Camp Olympics/

This year, the 28th annual Loras All-Sports Camp welcomed a record number of 2,490 children ages 7-13 this summer.

The Loras All-Sports Camp is designed to provide children an opportunity to develop skills in a wide range of sports while teaching them to have a Christ-like attitude in their relationships, both in sports and in life.

The concept of the camp is unique in that it offers instruction in 36 sports while at the same time instills Christian values and sportsmanship through the Loras College Paddle Award™. Children choose a "major" and two "minor" sports which they develop throughout the week. On the last day of camp, parents and families are invited to watch the campers in action at the Camp Olympics.

Loras All-Sports Camp was founded in 1983 by Dr. Bob Tucker and his wife, Judy. Since that time, they have developed the camp into one of the premier sports camps for children in the country. The camp consistently attracts over 2,400 campers for the four, one-week sessions.
