Cedar Rapids plans annual urban deer hunt

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL)--The City of Cedar Rapids will continue its annual urban deer hunt for the 2010-2011 season as authorized by city council resolution # 0762-09-07.  The urban deer hunt is scheduled for September 11, 2010 through January 30, 2011.  Firefighter Tim Gavin, program administrator, will issue hunting permits upon completion of the following: 

You must attend an eight-hour Iowa bow hunter's safety course (one-time only) and complete an urban deer management application.  Applications are available at Dick's Sporting Goods, Gander Mountain, Palo Outdoors, Central Fire Station (1010 1st Street NW) or on the city's web site.

You must also complete an annual proficiency certification test at Palo Outdoors, 1204 1st Street, Palo.  Attendance at the urban deer hunt rules and regulations class (only one class required) is mandatory.  It is offered at Palo Outdoors, 1204 1st Street, Palo.  Orientation session dates are:  August 10 from 6-7:30 p.m., August 18 from 6-7:30 p.m.,  August 21 from 9-10:30 a.m., September 18 from 9-10:30 a.m.

Hunting permits will be issued at the end of the urban deer hunt rules and regulations class, provided all items have been completed.  For complete information, click here.
