Benton Co. man pleads guilty to weapons charges

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - A man on probation for felony drunk driving and who possessed guns and ammunition pled guilty Tuesday in federal court.

33-year-old Jeremy Franzen of Watkins was convicted of one count of being a felon in possession of firearms.

Franzen was convicted of OWI 3rd in Benton County on March 22, 2007.
On October 23, 2009, probation officers checked on Franzen, and found four guns in his possession, along with ammo.

Franzen remains free on bond previously set pending sentencing.
He faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and 3 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
