Man threatens to kill Johnson Co. attorney

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - A 26-year-old man from Illinois may spend more than two years in federal prison for mailing a threatening letter to a Johnson County attorney.

Daniel Jason entered a guilty plea Thursday.
In a plea agreement, Jason admits he mailed a threatening letter to the attorney representing him in pursuing post-conviction relief for a stalking conviction in Johnson County.

The letter included a stick picture of a woman, with the attorney's name, "RIP", and a gun next to it.

Jason remains in the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing.
