Panther basketball wins ESPY

LOS ANGELES (KWWL) -- The UNI basketball team captured the ESPY for Best Upset after their victory over top ranked Kansas in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Panther head man Ben Jacobson, players Ali Farokhmanesh and Adam Koch were on hand to accept the award at the Nokia Center.

"On behalf of these two guys, their teammates watching at home, ESPN, the fans that voted for us, Cedar Falls and Waterloo, and all the proud alums of Northern Iowa this caps off a great run for us this year. Cedar Falls and Waterloo, we're bringing home an ESPY," Jacobson said on stage when he addressed the crowd at the Nokia Center.

The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team captured the 2010 ESPY for Best Upset at the Nokia Center in Los Angeles tonight.

UNI advanced to the Sweet 16 after dropping the #1 Jayhawks March 20, in Oklahoma City.
