Obese adults more likely to respond to food when not hungry

(KWWL) -- Obese adults are more likely to respond to the sights and smells of food when they are not hungry, according to new research.

A Yale University study of 26 obese and normal weight adults finds the brains of normal weight participants responded to a milkshake only when they were hungry, while those of obese adults were consistently activated whether or not they were hungry.

Experts say this study shows mindless eating may play a role in weight gain among obese adults.
