Keeping active can ward off Alzheimer's

(KWWL) -- Staying active well into the golden years could help fend off cognitive problems, like Alzheimer's and dementia.

A new, long-term study of over 1,200 elderly people found those who did moderate to heavy exercise had a 40 percent lower risk of developing any type of dementia.

On the other hand, those who did the least amount of exercise were 45 percent more likely to develop dementia than those who did the most exercise.

The findings were most pronounced in men.
