Waterloo Police investigating string of burglaries

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Waterloo Police say they are investigating a string of burglaries that happened in the Highland neighborhood over the weekend.

Captain Tim Pillack says the department received six reports of burglaries from that area on Sunday.  He added that most of the incidents happened late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Pillack says the thieves broke into three cars and three houses, stealing mostly electronics and cash.

Police say the thieves smashed the car windows to gain entry and forced their way into the homes.  No one was inside the homes at the time of the robberies.

Pillack says police received one report each from Alta Vista Avenue and Highland Boulevard and two reports each from Vine Street and Prospect Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waterloo Police Department at 291-2515.
