Japanese beetle in Iowa early this year

AMES (KWWL) -- The Japanese beetle is appearing in Iowa early this year.

An Iowa State University bug expert says the beetle has worked its way into southwest Iowa.

Adult Japanese beetles feed on more than 300 kinds of trees and plants, targeting leaves, fruits and flowers.

Experts say knocking the bugs into a bucket of soapy water can kill them quickly.
