University of Iowa seeks federal money to replace the art museum

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The University of Iowa plans to ask for federal funding to replace the Museum of Art that was damaged by flood waters two years ago.

The building is located on the banks of the Iowa River.

Officials estimate it sustained about $5.5-million in damage.

FEMA ruled the building didn't suffer more than 50 percent of its worth, which means the agency will help pay to restore the existing building, but not replace it.
