Remembering WWII Veterans

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Cedar Rapids VFW Post 788 took Saturday to remember a generation of veterans that is growing older and slowing disappearing.

The "tribute and thank you" was for World War II veteran and included a luncheon, a raffle, and a chance for veterans to share their stories.

"Freedom of speech, freedom to vote, freedom to pretty much do whatever it is that you want and become all that you can be, and the reason we have that is because of veterans that have fought and died in every war since 1775," VFW's Rick Martin said.

More than 50 veterans were individually recognized at the tribute.

The VFW even provided a ride for those who couldn't drive themselves.
