CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Michael Brecht was arrested Thursday for multiple charges including possession of meth and marijuana.

Cedar Rapids officers saw a black Chevy Tahoe speeding and attempted to stop the car, but the car kept going.  Then Brecht, who was driving the car, held a trashbag out of the window and dumped out what appeared to be white powder.  After Brecht finally stopped, police searched the car and found that the white powder was meth.  Police also found marijuana and a glass pipe used for smoking the meth and marijuana.

Police say Brecht swallowed some of the meth and was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital.  Officers watched Brecht until it was safe to take him to Linn County Jail.

Brecht has been charged with possession of meth and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to obey traffic control device, no insurance and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
