Broadband plan could help Iowa's Universities

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- The Iowa Board of Regents says the University of Iowa and Iowa State University will benefit from expanding the nation's broadband network.

It's part of an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project.

About 90 million dollars in grants could be coming to our state.

Plans include a 16.2 million dollar grant for the Iowa Communication Network.

That network provides communications for schools, colleges, hospitals, state and federal offices, national guard armories and libraries across the state.
