Mercy Service Club Autism Center now open

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- Dubuque is welcoming the new Mercy Service Club Autism Center. Staff began seeing patients on Tuesday, July 6. It's located on the Mercy campus, on the third floor of the Professional Arts Plaza.

The Mercy Service Club generously donated $100,000 to help support the Center. The will provide assistance for children in Mercy's care, and will also be a major contributor to Camp Mercy, a summer program for children with autism.

The Dubuque Racing Association also awarded a generous grant of $10,000 to the Autism Center.

"The Mercy Service Club has long been an advocate and supporter for the care of children. Their most recent magnificent gift enables us to open a comprehensive new Autism Center that will carry the Mercy Service Club name. The Dubuque Racing Association has also recognized the significance of autism in our community and has responded with a generous contribution that will further enhance the quality of our program," President and CEO of Mercy Medical Center Russell M. Knight said.
