Lineup announced for BBQ'Loo

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The 9th annual BBQ'Loo and Blues Too! will be July 16th and 17th at Lincoln Park in downtown Waterloo. The event will be free and open to the public, with vending and family activities on Friday from 5:30 until 9:30; and Saturday from Noon until 9:30 p.m.

There will be two Blues bands playing Friday and Saturday night:

The Avey Brothers will be the featured band on Friday, July 16th from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. The group, with their mixed backgrounds, blends elements of Cajun swamp with Blues-rock, and Chicago sounds to a mix heard on their debut CD " Devil in my Bed" and their soon to be released follow-up "Preacherman". The Avey Brothers were voted back-to-back champions of the 2008 and 2009 Iowa Blues Challenge. Veterans of the big stage and main events, The Avey Brothers have played many festivals and have shared the stage with many top tier artists such as Kenny Neal, Delbert McLinton, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials, and Walter Trout…just to name a few.

Mark Selby will take the stage on Saturday, July 17th, from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. Songwriter Selby has written more than 10 Top 40 singles and 4 No. 1 hits, including the Dixie Chicks' Grammy winning "There's Your Trouble" and Kenny Wayne Shepherd's "Blue on Black"—Billboard magazine's 1998 Rock Track of the Year. Selby's new "Nine Pound Hammer" CD on ZYX label is garnering critical raves in Europe and was released in the U.S. in summer 2008. He has released two internationally acclaimed blues/rock albums for Vanguard Records, "More Storms Comin'" and "Dirt". As a singer/songwriter, Mark Selby's in the same league as Bruce Springsteen, with meaty words, a compelling voice and tracks that have more groove than a vintage vinyl record.
