Fish oil may reduce breast cancer

(KWWL) -- A new study finds evidence that fish oil may reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Researchers followed over 35,000 post-menopausal women with no history of breast cancer over six years.

Women who regularly took fish oil supplements were nearly a third less likely to develop breast cancer than women who did not take fish oil.

The reduced risk was only for invasive ductal breast cancer, the most common type of the disease.

Researchers caution that more studies need to be done before they can recommend fish oil supplements as a prevention method for breast cancer.
