Former Dike-NH star Willms receives second Gatorade Award

DIKE (KWWL) -- Dike New Hartford's Hannah Willms is leaving behind a legacy that will be hard for any athlete to duplicate.

In her outstanding career Willms captured 14 state track and field championships, breaking several state records while also earning first team all-state honors in volleyball.

And this year Willms earned Iowa Gatorade player of the year in both volleyball and track.

There was a special ceremony at Dike-New Hartford High School where Willms received her Gatorade track and field award. Hannah is the first female athlete in Iowa High school history to win the Gatorade award in two different sports and two in the same year.

And she is only the fourth Iowa athlete to win it in two different sports, joining some special names like former Hawkeye greats Tavian Banks, Tim Dwight, and fittingly former Cyclone Fred Hoiberg, because Hannah is going to Iowa State to play volleyball.
