Hampton band shell will be saved

HAMPTON (KWWL)-- A band shell that has been in use for more than 50 years will be saved.

The Hampton city council voted to tear down the band shell deeming it unsafe to even stand on.

RDG Planning and Design heard about the it and did a preliminary analysis for free.

They are now taking on the project to restore it.

"They said don't wreck that we think we can save that and the process just started spinning and they stopped the wrecking ball and came up with this plan and the council voted two weeks ago to go ahead with the fundraising efforts and fix it," Brian Stevens, municipal band director said.

The band shell is going to be renovated at $90,000.

The city is looking for any donations.
