Cyclones in the running for highly touted, volatile White

Posted:

AMES (KWWL) -- The Iowa State basketball team appears to be the front runner for highly touted Minnesota transfer Royce White.  That's according to a report in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

White never played during his freshman season for the Gophers after being suspended following a pair of incidents.  White was charged with shoplifting and assault at the Mall of America, and was implicated in a laptop theft in Minnesota's dorms last year.

Coming out of high school White was one of the top recruits in the country, and was considered the second best shooting guard in the class of 2009 by rivals.com.   He visited new Cyclone coach Fred Hoiberg earlier in the week.

White, who is also considering Baylor and Kentucky, is expected to make a decision in the next few weeks.
