With census over, US loses thousands of jobs

WASHINGTON (KWWL) - The U.S. economy lost about 125,000 jobs in June, according to the Labor Department.

Most of those lost jobs were temporary census positions.

The private sector actually added about 83,000 jobs, but that was fewer than expected.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate dropped to 9.5%.
However, that's mostly because people have stopped looking for jobs and aren't counted.

President Obama announced plans to create 5,000 more jobs Friday.
