George Wyth State Park reopens

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- After closing due to floodwaters, George Wyth State Park is open again just in time for the holiday weekend.

The Iowa DNR reopened the park at 8:00 Thursday morning after getting the park back in shape after the flooding receded.

Lori Eberhard, park manager, added that Brinker Lake will open on Friday morning, but the docks may not be in if the water is still too high.

Eberhard says that all reservations made for the weekend are still valid and says all of the reservable sites are taken.

She expects that all of their first-come-first-served sites will be full by Thursday evening.

The beach at the park will remain closed for the rest of the year after being devastated by the floods of 2008.
