Hawks' Clayborn: "We're the only team in the state"

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Can a player truly create bulletin board material in the month of June for a football game that won't be played until September?

Tuesday Iowa preseason All-American defensive lineman Adrian Clayborn may have done just that during a summer media day event for the Hawkeyes.

Clayborn is coming off an outstanding junior season in which he earned first team Big 10 honors and Orange Bowl MVP in the Hawkeyes' victory over Georgia Tech.

Most of the questions directed at the Hawkeye players centered around the pre-season hype entering the upcoming season.

Clayborn provided the media a little twist on what Hayden Fry once said about Iowa Hawkeye football being the only dance in the state.

This was Clayborn's response when asked if he was bothered by all the hype and expectations.

"Not too much it actually makes me want to stay in the house, but I mean it comes with being a Hawkeye football player. I mean we are the only team in the state as far as I know...comes with being us I guess," Clayborn said.

Iowa plays Iowa State on Sept. 11, at Kinnick Stadium.
