Corn covers highway after crash


CHICKASAW COUNTY (KWWL)-- Corn covered part of Highway 63 near New Hampton Tuesday afternoon following a two vehicle crash. It happened on the highway between Fredericksburg and New Hampton around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say a pickup truck hauling two grain bins was rear ended by semi that was carrying steel. The grain bin spilled over, more than 500 bushels of corn spilled onto the highway. Some steel spilled too.

The driver of the trailer, Michael Kruse of Dunkerton had minor injuries. He was taken to a hospital for head trauma and was released. The driver of the pickup, Allen Heit, of New Hampton was not injured.

The roadway is now clear.  Criminal traffic charges are pending.
